Burn’s Night at MacKenzies Restaurant is always special with it’s historic connection.  Our resturant is named after the famous Henry MacKenzie who was an Edinburgh born lawyer and writer, who lived in the cottage adjacent to the restaurant.

Henry MacKenzie was best known for his novel ‘The Man of Feeling’.

Mackenzie, while editor of a short lived weekly periodical “The Lounger” wrote an article in December issue 1786, giving one of the earliest tributes to the genius of Robert Burns poems. This helped to make Robert Burns a well known name in literary circles.

Burns himself regarded ‘The Man of Feeling’ as “a book I prize next to the Bible”.

Burn’s Night

This year, Burn’s Night falls on Wednesday 25th so get your table reserved for the best in traditional Scottish food in Edinburgh!
